Saturday’s performance was quite simply fantastic and United fully deserved the three points against pre-season title favourites Ebbsfleet.
Although Ebbsfleet were on top for the first 15 minutes or so they seemed to slip away after we scored the first goal and in truth didn’t do too much to threaten Ross Worner.
While every single player was fantastic, I think Nicky Bailey deserves a special mention this week, he really does seem back to his Championship level best.
Tom Bolarinwa was excellent as usual and the defence once again solid as anything.
SUTTON UNITED: Ebbsfleet boss concedes National League South title
It is a big step towards the National League South title, but by no means secures it and the players will have to stay focussed for the game at home to Chelmsford City this weekend – a win in this game would essentially secure the title with United’s goal difference now 13 better than Ebbsfleet’s.
Chelmsford are a side on strong form, crushing Gosport Borough 6-1 on Saturday, but were beaten by Ebbsfleet the week before and on current form Paul Doswell’s men will definitely not be suffering from a lack of confidence.
The crowd of more than 3,000 for the victory over Ebbsfleet was another massive high point of the day and hopefully a large number of those fans will be back to support United in another massive game this weekend.
The noise levels were impressive once again and seem to rising each game - there’s no doubt that it does help the players out.
Let’s hope that this Saturday is a memorable occasion for those in amber and chocolate.
