Leatherhead may be in a relegation dogfight but they are not feeling the heat according to manager Richard Brady.

The Tanners are out of the bottom four and unbeaten in four after beating basement club Horsham 2-1 on Monday, thanks to goals from Tom Hutchings and a Mark Simmons penalty.

That followed a 2-22 draw against high-flying Lowestoft Town on Saturday with Greg Andrews and Harry Ottaway getting on the score sheet.

It has been a remarkable turnaround for Leatherhead having been entrenched in the relegation zone for most of the season.

They are ahead of Hastings United on goal difference and Brady insisted there is no pressure on his team going into the final three games.

“The psychological aspect is massive. We haven’t been out of that bottom four longer than a day and we have never been out of the bottom four on equal games,” he said.

“There have been times when we have been nine points out of it and times when we have been bottom, nowhere to be seen and took two points out of 30 at one stage.

“So we haven’t got that pressure on us as we were the Horsham at the start.

“We should have been long gone, dead, nowhere near it.

“But we have gradually got back into it and we are just happy to be in this position.

“You don’t forget where you have come from the whole season when you have spent just a few days out of the bottom four.”

Brady added his team would not be taking their foot off the gas and they will be going all out to ensure safety before the last game of the season.

They go to play-off hopefuls Canvey Island this Saturday and then face Kingstonian and AFC Hornchurch in their final two fixtures.

“We think that if we win two out of the last three then we will be safe,” added Brady.

“But there is no reason why we can’t win three of the last three.

“We don’t see why we can’t stay unbeaten until the end of the season.

“We are staying focused on the Canvey Island game.

“It was never going to be easy and it isn’t suddenly going to become easy.

“We are going to have to battle hard against Canvey to get a result.”
