Wade hopes wandering days are over at Ks
Former Tooting & Mitcham striker Wade Small is hoping his wandering days are over with a spell at Kingstonian.
The 28-year-old former Wimbledon, MK Dons and Shefield Wednesday star made his first Ks start in Monday’s 2-1 friendly defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.
Boss Alan Dowson is keen to agree a deal with the exprienced forward, who made a handful of appearances for the relegated Terrors last season.
Small, who quit Imperial Fields in the summer, has scored 30 goals in more than 220 Football League appearances in his nine-year career, that has seen him turn out for nine clubs prior to Ks.
And the Croydon-born striker, who has followed pal Malvin Kamara to the club, is ready to settle down.
“I have moved around quite a bit to be honest and I really only played for Tooting because it is my local club and close to where I live,” he said.
“Last year was fairly terrible there and a lot of stuff was going on.
“I only played about eight or nine games, which wasn’t ideal, but it was convenient.
“I haven’t really played for a year and need to get my fitness sorted, but hopefully it will work out.”
Small found the net against Spurs, but saw his second half header ruled out for offside and he admitted it would have been the perfect way to get his Ks career up and running.
“It is always nice to score against opposition like that. It was definitely onside,” he said.
Tooting boss Roberto Forzoni will take his Terrors to Herne Bay on the opening day of the Ryman Division One South campaign on August 18, before hosting Leatherhead three days later.
