10:54am Friday 17th February 2012 in Carshalton Athletic
Carshalton Athletic are to honour former club president John Carpentiere by naming a stand after him.
The main stand at Colston Avenue will become the John Carpentiere stand at the Ryman Premier League match with Concord Rangers this Saturday, following his passing in October.
Throughout his time at the club, Carpentiere took on a number of roles and played a pivotal role in helping the Robins survive when they faced financial difficulties a few years ago.
“John will always be held in high esteem by everyone at the club,” said chairman Frank Thompson.
“It is fitting his outstanding personal contribution to Carshalton Athletic will be honoured in this way.”
The dedication will take place alongside Carshalton’s first ladies’ day of 2012, where women will gain free entry and there will also be information about a new girls academy the club is due to open in September.
The academy will be run in partnership with Stanley Park High School and headed by first team assistant manager Ian Hazel.
“Ladies football is a priority at Carshalton,” said owner Paul Dipre.
“We have made huge investments in both teams and facilities so that we may offer ladies the same benefits as their male counterparts.”
