Robins need to cut out errors

Paul Dipre has told his Carshalton Athletic side they must cut out the concentration errors if they are to challenge in the Ryman Premier this season.

The Robins endured a difficult Christmas period, taking just one point from three games as they fell to a 3-2 home defeat to Cray Wanderers on Monday, 48 hours after drawing 1-1 at Wealdstone.

Lapses of concentration at the start and end of the Cray game, where the visitors scored in injury time to snatch the win after Laurent Hamici had missed a penalty at 2-2, cost them at least a point and Dipre was far from impressed.

"We need to play for 90 minutes and not 80," he said.

"Our recent losses against Tooting and Mitcham [on Boxing Day] and then against Cray were unnecessary and comes down to a lack of concentration that we must eradicate.

“We put ourselves under the cosh for most of the first half and we played too short too often in the wrong areas which played right into Cray’s hands.

“We fixed this at half time and in the second half I felt we were much better and should’ve have really sealed it with the penalty."

Billy Crook and Hamici scored the Robins goals, following on from Paul Vines' strike against Wealdstone.

The Robins have been buoyed though after being awarded the Ryman League's team performance of the month award for December for their 5-0 thrashing of Bishop's Stortford in the FA Trophy.

“We are all working hard to try to improve to this kind of level on a weekly basis," added Dipre.

"As we haven’t had the rub of the green in a few games, this award is a welcome boost."
