Dipre: Lincoln tie will be Robins' cup final

Carshalton Athletic boss Paul Dipre has labelled his side’s FA Trophy second round trip to Lincoln City as their cup final.

Dipre’s men swept aside Blue Square North outfit Bishop’s Stortford to earn a plumb clash with the former League Two side.

“It’s a good draw,” said the Robins chief.

“They are just under mid-table in the Blue Square Premier and it is probably the biggest team the club has played for a few years.

“It will be a nice away day and will be our FA Cup Final, so I’m sure we will all be up for it.”

Saturday’s result came through goals from Paul Vines, Luke Nolan, Luke Pigden, Tom Davis and Billy Crook, and ushered in the the sacking of Stortford boss Ian Walker.

But Dipre was keen to keep everyone’s feet on the ground.

“Three-nil was probably fairer on them. Everything went our way, we played well, and everybody was on song,” he added.

“There will be no talk of FA Trophy finals or Wembley or prize money. We will concentrate on the job in hand.”

Carshalton, who saw their 12-match unbeaten run come to an end on Tuesday as they lost 2-1 to Lewes, host rock-bottom Ryman Premier League rivals Horsham on Saturday and Dipre says there is no room for complacency.

“Teams from the bottom like Leatherhead, who beat Kingstonian 3-0, have proved that there are no easy games,” said the manager.
