Reece Jones has not ruled out a return to Hampton & Richmond, but admitted he wants to prove himself in the Football League, writes Graham Moody.

The 19-year was released by parent club AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday having played just 28 minutes of League Two football for the Dons this term – all of them in Saturday’s win over Shrewsbury Town.

Earlier in the season, he spent two months on loan at the Beavers before being recalled to Kingsmeadow last month but, following Hampton’s relegation to the Ryman Premier, it looks unlikely he will return with his sights set higher up the league ladder.

The Welshman, left, was not ruling anything out though.

“I do not want to say anything about my future yet,” he said.

“I am not going to rush into anything and am willing to wait, take the summer off and see what happens.

“The aim though is to prove myself in the Football League.

“When I was at Hampton & Richmond it was the first time I had been properly fit and the first time I have had a successive run of games in 10 years.

“I thought I showed everyone what I could do and to go back to Wimbledon and sit on the bench was frustrating.

“Terry Brown brought me back to play me and that never happened.”

Striker Dave Tarpey collected the players’ player of the year, supporters’ player of the year and the golden boot awards last week, with Lewis Ferrell getting manager Mark Harper’s award.

Brentford will play a pre-season friendly at the Beveree on July 13, while reserve team player Milan Stojsavlejevic has landed a two-year scholarship at League Two Aldershot Two.
