Dowson: Ks have left it too late
5:12pm Tuesday 13th March 2012 in Sport By Stuart Amos
Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson is close to admitting defeat in the race to Ryman Premier League play-offs.
A fine strike from second-half substitute Louis-Rae Beadle salvaged a 1-1 draw with fourth-placed Bury Town at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.
Dowson’s men are seven points adrift of the top five with nine games remaining, making it a tough task to bridge the gap.
“We’ve got a lot to do. I think we have left it too late to be honest,” he said ahead of Saturday’s visit of Aveley.
“We’ve got win next week to stand any chance whatsoever of pushing up the table and we’ve have to win every game from now on.”
Beadle’s 80th minute equaliser set up a frantic finale, but Ks fell short.
“It was one of the best performances of the season. I can’t believe we didn’t win with the possession we had in the final third,” he added.
“Louis deserves a bit of a go in the side. He is young and got ability on his side.”
