Palace promotion hopes over
 |
| Ben Watson |
Ben Watson was hero and villain for Crystal Palace as tonight's play-off semi-final at Bristol City ended in heartache tonight.
Watson gave Palace the lead on the night and tied the scores at 2-2 on aggregate after 24 minutes when he looped a header over keeper Adriano Basso into the net.
But Watson had a chance to take Palace to Wembley 18 minutes from time when ref Howard Webb awarded a penalty for a foul on Tom Soares.
However, Watson struck the spot kick against the outside of the post.
Palace had a scare in the last minute when Lee Trundle's effort came back off the woodwork.
But Trundle and Michael McIndoe scored in extra-time to take Bristol City to Wembley.
