Warnock: We are the underdogs

Neil Warnock has insisted his Crystal Palace side are the play-off underdogs ahead of the first leg of their semi-final tomorrow.

Despite many bookies making the Eagles the favourites to reach Wembley and progress to the Premiership ahead of Watford, Hull City and Bristol City, Warnock is adamant that tag is not deserved.

He said: "I don't see where the bookies get that from to be honest, probably just from my record but I'm not playing.

"The favourites for me have got to be Hull City or Watford, whoever gets through that tie.

"The three teams with us have all had opportunities to go up automatically, we are just delighted to get a chance in the play-offs so in that respect we are the underdogs."

Palace face Bristol City at Selhurst Park tomorrow lunchtime, and Warnock has paid tribute to his Robins counterpart Gary Johnson ahead of the game.

He said: "Gary's done a fabulous job. They are very similar to us in size and capacity at Ashton Gate and if you look at the job that they have done having been promoted 12 months ago it's fantastic.

"It's a great achievement for them, and Hull City. Watford are the only team in the four who were expected to be up there, that's the biggest surprise of the championship."
