Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has told his strikers they need to work on their goalscoring every day until they stop firing blanks.
Midfielder Sam Saunders remains the club’s leading scorer after the Bees exited both the FA Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in the space of three days this week.
Rosler’s men crashed 1-0 to Blue Square Premier leaders Wrexham on Saturday, before Tuesday’s 5-3 penalty shoot-out Trophy exit at Barnet.
The Griffin Park chief insisted it is a crisis of quality rather than confidence and he insisted it must be put right.
“There were enough chances to win three or four football games,” he said after Tuesday’s match.
“We have to get that confidence and belief in every training session and that is where there is the potential to get better.
“We have to work on the quality in finishing. It will not come overnight, but we have strikers who are proven and this run has to stop.
“We have to make sure we are creating chances and at least putting one or two behind the white line.”
Saunders has opened talks on a new contract and wants the club to commit to him like he has to the Bees.
The 28-year-old is a free agent in the summer and hopes he has convinced the boss to keep him on.
“I’m confident in the way I’m playing and hopefully I can keep it up to the end of the season,” he added.
“This is a big decision for me. I’ve moved to this side of London. I’ve shown my commitment to the club and I hope something is sorted.”
