Bees boss Andy Scott says the two-year contract to keep striker Charlie MacDonald at Griffin Park remains unsigned, although he expects the deal to be done within the next seven days.

The Brentford manager met with MacDonald’s agent last week - having been given the green light by the club’s Board to make an offer to the 29-year-old - and held more talks on Tuesday.

“We are very close to agreeing all the terms and we hope to get it sorted, signed and confirmed within the next week,” said Scott.

“It will be a big boost. He has been fantastic for us. We always thought he’d be more than just a goal scorer and he has proved why this season.

“He has been a bargain for the money we spent and his overall contribution has made him invaluable to us.”
