Ifill and Fletcher transfer-listed

The exit door at Crystal Palace could be in full swing this week after Paul Ifill and Carl Fletcher joined Shefki Kuqi, Ben Watson and Dougie Freedman on the transfer list.

With just 12 days to go until the transfer window shuts on September 1, the Eagles are looking to free up space on the wage bill so they can bring in at least one striker, and midfielders Ifill and Fletcher have been deemed surplus to requirements.

With Scott Flinders having moved to Falkirk on loan as well, manager Neil Warnock is still looking to make more space in the squad.

He said: “We’ve put Ifill and Fletcher on the list and reiterated that Kuqi, Watson and Freedman are all available.

“We are just trying to free a little bit of the wage bill up to bring people in and it’s to help bring some of the young lads to come through as we don’t want to hold them back.

“It will help raise funds for a striker too.”

If Ifill leaves Palace it will be the second time Warnock has sold him, having been in charge at Sheffield United when the injury-prone 28-year-old left Brammall Lane to join the Eagles in January 2007.

Fletcher meanwhile has only played 45 minutes of football this season and is understood to have turned down a deal with Plymouth Argyle earlier in the summer.

Warnock confirmed they have had offers for the 28-year-old Welsh international and out-of-favour striker Kuqi.

He said: “We’ve got one or two people asking for Shefki and we had a couple of enquiries about Fletcher before we put him on the list.”

Watson has been strongly linked with moves to QPR and Birmingham during the summer after rejecting a new deal with Palace, but Warnock has confirmed all has gone quiet on that front.

He said: “Nothing much is happening with him really. We haven’t had an offer that’s acceptable.

“He’s playing in the reserves this Wednesday so people can have a look at him, all the transfer-listed players will be playing in that.”
