Goals from Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke, Luka Milivojevic and Patrick van Aanholt helped Palace secure their Premier League status.

Zaha put Palace ahead in the third minute after capitalising on an Andrea Ranocchia blunder, and the Eagles doubled their lead thanks to Benteke’s header.

And Milivojevic's 85th-minute penalty added to the party mood, before Van Aanholt made it four late on.

Palace can start preparing for top-flight football next year following their win over Hull, which relegated the Yorkshire side.

The Eagles have boss Sam Allardyce to thank for pulling off another relegation rescue mission with yet another club.

Here are five things we learned…

Zaha is the man

Often criticised for his lack of consistency - consistency is exactly what the former Manchester United winger has shown in a season of struggle for Palace. His cool third-minute finish helped the Eagles secure their Premier League status for another year. With Arsenal and Tottenham circling, Palace could find it hard to keep Zaha at Selhurst Park in the summer. Zaha has scored seven and assisted nine goals this term, his best ever return in a Premier League season. And today, he proved to be the man for the big occasion.

The return of Tomkins shored up the defence

Prior to the Hull clash, Tomkins missed Palace’s previous three games with an ankle injury sustained in the 2-1 win over Liverpool last month. His absence coincided with the Eagles’ drop in form - losing three successive games and conceding eight goals. But he was a rock for Sam Allardyce’s side, minimising Hull’s threat. Keeping the defender fit for a full 2017/18 season will be key.

Benteke is one of the Premier League’s most formidable strikers

After an unsuccessful spell with Liverpool, Benteke has found a place to call home at Selhurst Park. Palace doubled their lead thanks to Benteke’s towering first-half header, which gave them some breathing space. It was the Belgian’s 17th goal in a red and blue shirt, and with an impressive return like that, he is still a force to be reckoned with in England’s top tier. Where would Palace be without his goals this season? His £30m transfer fee last summer looks like a bargain now.

Big Sam can start planning for next season

With Palace safe from the drop, Allardyce can finally start preparing for life in the Premier League. He will need to shift out the deadwood, players such as Fraizer Campbell, Damien Delaney and Lee Chung-yong are clearly not in Allardyce’s first-team plans. And if history shows anything, it’s that the former England boss recruits well. With Sunderland duo Lamine Kone and Jermaine Defoe reportedly on his wish list, they would add much-needed depth to Palace’s back and front line.

Jason Puncheon’s goal-drought is not a problem

Puncheon has been Palace’s skipper in recent weeks in place of the injured Scott Dann - and the midfielder has led by example. He has not scored this season, but his contribution, in terms of work-rate and desire, has been unquestionable. He provided the assist for Benteke’s goal and never stopped barking orders at his team-mates. Palace lost a leader in Dann last month, but gained an unexpected one in Puncheon, who has been crucial in Palace’s relegation fight.
