James McArthur believes Crystal Palace can beat anyone in the Premier League after recovering from their slump to record consecutive victories.

The Eagles’ form tailed away towards the end of last season and Alan Pardew’s side lost their first two games of the 2016/17 campaign.

However, Palace fought back to earn a point against Bournemouth before beating Middlesbrough and thrashing Stoke City on Sunday.

Scotland international McArthur says the 4-1 victory over the Potters is evidence that the club have turned a corner following a dire run in 2016.

He said: “It is no secret that we are a club in transition but we are handling it well and since that second half a few weekends ago against Bournemouth we have turned the corner really. We are looking like we can beat anyone on our day.

“Scott Dann’s equaliser against Bournemouth has certainly got us on our way after playing so well in the second half of that match.

“That match gave us a lot of confidence and then we went to Middlesbrough and got a good result. Then [against Stoke] we took it on again and got the result.”

Stoke were searching for their first three points of the season at Selhurst Park but were 2-0 down inside 12 minutes thanks to goals from James Tomkins and Scott Dann.

McArthur’s first goal of the season was followed up by a superb strike from summer signing Andros Townsend before Marko Arnautovic scored a late consolation goal.

McArthur, 28, added: “It was a very good performance at both ends of the pitch and it was disappointing at the end to concede the goal because the way the back five played they deserved a clean sheet.

“Like my goal before last, it took a deflection but I am sure it was going into the top corner anyway! It was really good to get one anyway and important as a team that we got the three points.”

Revitalised Palace, who are now eighth in the top-flight, visit Southampton in the EFL Cup on Wednesday and take on Sunderland at the weekend.

McArthur has urged the side to build on their impressive double, saying: “We need to kick on again, there is a great confidence in our dressing room and we go into our next league game at Sunderland looking to continue the good work of the last couple of weeks.

“When you have the pace in the side that we have we are so dangerous, we have pace and quality that is backed up by Christian [Benteke] being up top he becomes a point for us to hit and with him being at top clubs we know what he brings to our side.”
