Corinthian Casuals' Emil Salama will see a specialist to find out the extent of the injury that may have wrecked his season.

Salam was stretchered off cluitching his knee in the second half of Saturday's 2-1 Ryman Division South opening day win over Whyteleafe.

The youngster, who is on crutches and wearing a splint, confirmed he has not broken his leg, but will have an MRI scan next week.

Two goals inside the first 20 minutes – from James Cottee and a John Mensah own goal – gave boss James Bracken’s side victory over a side they hadn’t beaten at home since 2011.

“Emil’s injury isn’t good. He’s a terrific player and he’d have had a big part to play going forward,” said the manager.

“He was going to feature heavily.  It looks like that plan has been scuppered.

“However, it opens the door for someone else to get more game time. 

“The reserves side won again against the team that won the league.

"I know what those players have got. I watched all of their pre-season games and there’s some very good players.

“Of course, I’m gutted for Emil – I’ve known the boy since he was about four years old and you never want to see lads like Emil get hurt in that way.”

Casuals, who travel to South Park tonight, head to Crawley Down Gatwick for their FA Cup preliminary round clash on Saturday.
