AFC Wimbledon have made their first signing of the summer bringing in goalkeeper Ryan Clarke after he was released by Northampton Town.

The 34-year-old shot-stopper put pen to paper earlier today (Tuesday) with boss Neal Ardley hailing his experience between the sticks as vital to Dons' overall goalkeeper offering.

Clarke has made more than 450 appearances, including more than 250 in for Oxford United.

However, he failed to make one league appearance last term, and only turned out for the Cobblers on Capital One Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy duty.

Ardley told Dons Player: "Joe McDonnell has come on in leaps and bounds and James Shea got his mojo back at the end of last season, he was excellent against Newport.

"Hopefully, we can get him back to his best.

"With Ryan and his experience, we feel we have strengthened the goalkeeping department.”

There will be a full interview with Clarke tomorrow.
