Brentford may not have lived up to the standards they have set themselves at home this term, but Saturday's 2-2 draw with Millwall may yet prove to be a crucial point in the Championship shake-up.

An Alex Pritchard penalty and a stoppage time Moses Odubajo effort saw the Bees grab a 2-2 draw when - at 2-0 down with five minutes to play - they seemed destined for defeat.

Boss Mark Warburton's men slipped out of the top six, but remain well in touch with the promotion race ahead of the international break.

But, while defender Jake Bidwell admitted the Bees had let themselves down, he recokoned results elsewhere meant all was still to play for.

“The standards that we have set for ourselves this season we weren’t up to that,” said Bidwell.

“If we want to get where we want to be and get into that top two then those are the types of matches that we have to win.

“No disrespect to Millwall, but we fancy ourselves at home and these are the types of games we need to be winning.

“We might look back at the end of the season and think that could be a valuable point.

“Sometimes it is difficult to analyse when you are involved in the game, but our play was a bit too slow.

“Credit to them that they slowed the game down at every chance that they got but we needed to get back up to our tempo and hurt them.

“We weren’t at the standard that we have set ourselves this season.

“The positive is that although we haven’t played as well as we can we have still come away with a point which says something about the spirit of the lads.

“We go on the international break to have a bit of a rest and regroup and hopefully we come back firing after that.

“We will look at the goals on Monday, like we always do, and try to put it right for after the break.”

Both sides had chances in the opening minutes, with David Button pushing away Martyn Woolford’s shot.

At the other end both Jonathan Douglas and Stuart Dallas saw their shots blocked before Pritchard shot over.

Button made a low save from Woolford’s snap shot on the turn, while Odubajo soon cut in from the right and saw his shot saved by David Forde.

After Pritchard sent in a teasing cross from the left Jota’s header hit the woodwork.

The Lions went ahead when Brentford were caught out by a long ball which Lee Gregory latched onto and fired past Button.

Forde did well to tip Dallas’ shot over, before saving Douglas’ header as half time approached.

Early in the second half Andre Gray shot just over the bar as the Bees looked to draw level.

Yet the visitors extended their lead just after the hour mark when Woolford crossed from the by-line and Aidan O’Brien headed home at the back post.

The Bees left it late but the comeback was on when substitute Alan Judge was fouled inside the box and Pritchard smashed the penalty past Forde.

In added on time Odubajo hauled his side level when he fired home from a few yards out.
