Crystal Palace’s pursuit of Bruno Martins Indi has hit a stumbling block with Stoke still hopeful of signing him.

On Friday, reports claimed that the Eagles had agreed a fee with Porto for the defender, who starred in a loan spell with the Potters last season.

But Stoke have not given up on a deal for the Netherlands international, which could cost up to £8m.

Potters boss Mark Hughes told the Stoke Sentinel: “We still want him. Hopefully that’s something we will be able to do.

“But we need everyone to be on the same page and, at the moment, we’re not.”

Martins Indi featured 35 times in the Premier League, and struck up a solid partnership with Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross.

Palace are also chasing another Dutch defender, Ajax’s Jairo Riedewald. The transfer is understood to be close to completion and he is set to be confirmed as an Eagles player this week.
