Classy Kasse is first home
Former world junior half-marathon winner Kasse Tadesse, of Belgrave Harriers, led a 400-strong field home to win the Sutton Runners 10km road race in Beddington Park on Sunday.
He clocked 32 minutes 12 seconds to finish almost a minute clear of Dorking's Nick Hodges (33:08), with South London Harriers' Pawel Bal third (34:51), Ranelagh's Paul Doyle fourth and first veteran (35:00) and Stragglers' Chris Walmsley fifth (35:13).
Luis Gomez, in sixth (35:24) led Sutton Runners to fourth team out of 27, while the hosts' women were sixth out of 18.
Men's teams: 1 Stragglers 44, 2 South London Harriers 50, 3 Ranelagh Harriers 97.
Women: 1 Justina Heslop (Clapham Chasers) 36:34, 2 2 Anne Curley (Highgate) 38:27, 3 Emily Gear (Clapham Chasers) 39:27.Team: 1 Clapham Chasers 22, 2 South London Harriers 24, 3 Stragglers 59.
First over-50: Hugh Saxby (37:31). First over-60: Geoff Newton (Tadworth) 40:13.
