Johnson second best for Herne Hill Harriers
1:10pm Thursday 24th May 2012 in Athletics By Graham Moody, Sports Reporter
Big leap: Jade Johnson
Three Herne Hill Harriers were in action at the Loughborough International Athletics meeting on Sunday.
Jade Johnson continued her quest to reach a third Olympic Games in the long jump.
She ended the day disappointed though as she could only finish in second with a wind-assisted jump of 6.35m – 10cm better than she managed at the Surrey Country Championships earlier in the month but still 30cm short of the Olympic B standard.
Liverpool’s Katarina Johnson-Thompson won with a 6.46m jump.
Katie Snowdon was in action in the 800m race and came seventh in two minutes, 13.63 seconds, eight seconds slower than the 18-year-old’s personal best.
At 18, Aisha Naibe-Wey was the youngest runner in the 400m hurdles A race and finished fifth out of six in 60.40.
