Hercules Wimbledon’s track and field team captain Steve Davies made an impressive debut in the British Masters Indoor championships at Lee Valley last weekend.

The 37-year-old left with two gold medals around his neck in the over 35 category as he won the 60m hurdles in 8.81 seconds and jumped 1.75m to grab victory in the high jump.

There was further success for the club in the over 55 women’s 800m as Anna Garnier took the title in two minutes, 40.05 seconds, and also grabbed silver in the 1,500m in 5:22.99 and bronze in the 400m in 1:12.17.

Pete Giles won two silver medals in the over 65 category for the 1,500m (5:25.08) and the 3,000m (11:57.75), while Mark Baker won bronze in the over 50 60m in 7.37.

Teenager Tim Livingstone, selected as an Olympic torch bearer this summer, helped Surrey to victory in the intermediate boys’ race in the English Schools Cross Country Championships in Somerset on Saturday.

The 16-year-old finished 111th out of more than 300 runners in 21:56, while Emma Headley also helped Surrey to the intermediate girls team title as she finished 88th out of 330 runners in 15:50.

Maire Gilmartin was London’s second finisher as she came 189th in 16:40.

The club take part in the South of England 12-stage road relay championship in Milton Keynes this weekend.
