Striders of Croydon’s men finished fifth in the five-mile Brent Shield race at the South of the Thames inter-club race at Sparrows Den, West Wickham on Saturday.
Striders times: 29 Lee Flanagan 30.32, 44 Tyler O’Callaghan 31.39, 55 Richard Lee-Smith 32.32, 65 Barry White 33.14, 74 Lee Wadsworth 33.58, 79 Matt Chapman 34.09, 80 John Foster 34.20, 81 Chris Morton 34.23.
Striders’ women placed eighth in their four-to-score event.
Striders times: 22 Suzy Yates 39.12, 27 Alice Ewen 39.48, 56 Lisa Jackson 58.14, 58 Victoria Legge 64.39.
Striders also had a double win on rather easier terrain at the Roundshaw Downs Park Run on Saturday. Justin Macenhill won the men’s race, covering the 5km course in 18 minutes 25, while Serena Stracey was the first woman finisher, recording 22 minutes 01.
