Teenager Joe Hook pipped South London Harriers’ Andy Davis in a sprint finish to win Saturday morning’s Banstead Woods 5km time trial by a second on Saturday morning.

Both members of the Bantam Tuesday night training group organised by BWTT director Chris Phelan posted personal best times with Hook clocking 17 minutes 25 seconds.

Unattached runner James Jones, who is in his early 20s, was third (18:02).

Reigate Priory’s Meera Siva, who represented Jamaica at swimming as a teenager, set a course record for over-35 women in clocking 19:15, to finish ahead of South London Harriers’ U14 year old Francesca Paris (23:51) and Julie Duke (24:00).

The first U14 boy was Sutton & District’s Alex Penfold in 12th place (19:42).

Hook is now just four points behind Stephen Cooney in the points competition. Claire Ballhatchet is 205 ahead of Lucy Ashdown-Parkes in the women’s competition.
