Woodford Green with Essex Ladies hurdler Tiffany Porter qualifies for London 2012 Olympic semi final
11:44am Monday 6th August 2012 in Sport
Tiffany Porter safely made it through to the Olympic semi finals of the 100m hurdles this morning.
The Woodford Green with Essex Ladies competitor kicked off the day’s action in the Olympic Stadium, running in heat one and finishing third to claim an automatic qualifying place.
She clocked a time of 12.79 to advance just behind Belarus’ Alina Talay (12.71) and Canada’s Jessica Zelinka (12.75).
Her run was the eighth quickest of the first round and will stand her in good stead when she returns to the track tomorrow.
New Olympic heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis was due to run in the second heat as well but she did not start, meaning Porter is the sole British representative in the event.
The semi finals will run tomorrow night at 7.15pm, with the final following shortly after at 9pm.
