Hosting a football match at the same time as the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony may not seem a bright idea, but Ks boss Alan Dowson reckoned it could be a stroke of genius.

Kingstonian face near neighbours Fulham at Kingsmeadow tonight in the latest match of a trilogy of friendlies against Premier League opposition that has already seen Tottenham Hotspur visit Jack Goodchild Way this summer.

“We believe it is the only non-Olympic football match going on in London this weekend,” said Dowson.

“We’re hoping Fulham bring a strong team because they haven’t got a game for a couple of weeks after this and they are only coming from around the corner.

“We’ll have the opening ceremony on in the bar, so it should be a great night.”

Children under the age of 16 will enjoy free admission for the game against the Cottagers.
