Tadworth’s Queensbury British Welterweight champion Jimmy Mizon has promised he will not hold back this time around when he steps through the ropes on Saturday March 12 to defend his Queensbury British Welterweight title against the dangerous Fatjon Gola on the Queensbury Boxing League’s Showdown promotion at the Epsom Downs Racecourse.

Making the second defence of the title he won back in August, Mizon will be looking to make a statement after the unsatisfactory nature of his previous outing when an accidental clash of heads opened up a nasty laceration on title challenger Tony Chaplin left eye resulting in the bout being declared a no contest and Mizon retaining his crown.

Mizon has his sights firmly set on a rematch with Chaplin this year, but first he must take care of business on the 12th and send Gola back to East London empty handed.

But the disappointing nature of the last result has not damped the champions desire to fight, and he is taking the challenge of his Albanian opponent very seriously indeed.

“In my last fight I was really disappointed with the way that it ended. It was a big, big fight for both of us and there was a massive amount of hype surrounding the contest and I wanted to prove I was the best man in there.

"When I came out in the first round I was a bit too cautious and not my normal aggressive self, and I was just getting started when the clash of heads occurred”.

With Mizon starting his training camp 2 weeks earlier than normal for his next defence, he seems focused on producing a knockout display for his hometown fans.

“I am really fired up for this next fight and I’m really looking forward to getting back down to business and putting on a performance for everyone coming to watch me. You will see the old Jimmy Mizon in that ring this time and there will be no holding back”.

Fatjon originally from Albania but now fighting out of East London comes into the contest with the reputation of being a sound technical boxer with good movement, but how he copes with the unrelenting pressure Mizon will unleash on him from the opening bell remains to be seen.

But with Mizon promising a return to his usual aggressive boxing and Fatjon confident of handing the champion his first taste of defeat in front of his hometown fans, this contest looks set to catch fire when the pair collide for the title on March 12th.

With a packed undercard of 13 other bouts featuring a host of local fighters making their debuts in the League, the event looks set to be one of the most anticipated boxing shows the area has ever seen.
