Palace boss Burley releaved at Ambrose verdict

Darren Ambrose could be back in action within a fortnight after a scan revealed he had not broken his leg.

The midfielder has missed the last three Crystal Palace games and it was feared he faced a lengthy spell on the sidelines before the scans showed it to be nothing more than bruising.

"Darren is progressing well and has done some light jogging," said manager George Burley.

"It's going to be two or three weeks before he is ready.

"It is a boost that it wasn't broken because as I have said from day one, Darren is a key player for us having scored 20 goals last season and its been a big blow him being out."

There is good news on the rest of the injury front too, with Julian Bennett back in full training, David Wright close to a return and Sean Scannell set for a quicker comeback than expected.

"David will hopefully be in full training by next week but Saturday will be too early for him," said Burley.

"Sean has starting running now and Julian has had a hamstring injury but he is back in full training so hopefully he will be ready for Saturday."
