Harlequins rugby league prop Louie McCarthy Scarsbrook, has undergone surgery to remove the pins that were inserted into his wrist mid March.

The Londoner, who suffered a complicated break during Harlequins RL's round 6 clash with the Leeds Rhinos, was initially predicted to be sidelined for a period of 4 months.

While the club is still waiting on further information from his surgeon, the removal of the pins and cast from his arm mean that McCarthy-Scarsbrook can begin taking part in training sessions involving ball work.

Harlequins Rugby League Head Physiotherapist, Todd Williams, has said: "It is still difficult to put a time frame on how long it will be until Louie can start playing again, but if he continues healing the way he has so far it may be as soon four weeks."

"Now he's had the operation he'll be able to get more involved with the rest of the team at training.

"He'll start with joining in some skills sessions and gradually work into contact."
