Kingstonian threw away a great chance of starting their season with a win at Edward Alleyn.
Needing just 14 runs to win with four wickets and plenty of overs in hand, they somehow contrived to fall four runs short.
The most frustrated batsman was former skipper Nadim Malik, who hit 73 in just 70 deliveries to take his side to the brink of success.
But, after his dismiial at 144-7, his team-mates could not muster the runs to get over the line and were bowled out for 154.
Ks had earlier dismissed the home side for 158, with Moteen Butt and Hamid Malik taking three wickets each.
Ks then slumped to 40-5 before Nadim set about the bowling hitting 11 fours and a six.
Malcolm Bennett marked his return from a hip operation with 4-27 in the second team's 93-run success against Lingfield. Ks 220-3 dec, Lingfield 127 all out.
