Emanuel Rugby Club is planning for the future after receiving a grant from the local network fund for equipment.
The club, based by A3 at New Malden, started mini and midi rugby in 2004 and the programme has grown steadily each year.
Club captain Rob Park worked tirelessly on obtaining the grant, while maintaining a first XV place and coaching Emanuel Lions sessions.
The Lions, as the minis and midis are now called, have a proactive committee involved in the community, and seeks to develop rugby in local schools with the aim of recruiting players.
Emanuel chairman Penny McCarthy recently made a presentation of rugby balls, tag belts, bags and cones to Sacred Heart School, who were represented by PE teacher Brendan Kennedy and pupils Benjamin and William Sterlini, who play for Emanuel Lions.
Emanuel Lions welcomes boys and girls from five years up through teens to attend at their club on Sundays at 10.30am during the rugby season.
