Roy Hodgson couldn’t hide his disappointment following Wolves’ injury time equaliser at Selhurst Park.
Diogo Jota struck in the 95th minutes to give the visitors an unlikely point to take back to the midlands after a second half dominated by the home side.
Despite their second half superiority and playing against ten-men for the final 20 minutes, the Eagles only had Joel Ward’s deflected strike to their name for their efforts.
The points leaves Palace 12 in the league, but Hodgson admitted the timing of the equaliser made the draw feel like a defeat.
“It’s unbelievably disappointing,” he said.
“We did more than enough in the second half to be honest and should’ve taken one or two of the chances we created in and around the penalty area.
“They took the chance and go away very happy, feeling they’ve won.
“Having been behind for such a long time, and when you spend so long you feel like you’re not going to get any points, so when you get them it’s a feeling of victory.
“The on the other side to that, when you feel like these are our points, and three suddenly become one, it feels like defeat.”
Hodgson was at a loss to find any positives from the result despite a second half his side dominated, even before Saiss’ dismissal.
“It’s very hard to feel positive when you’ve seen a very good performance, when you see two points taken away in the last minute.
“I’m not sure how you can feel positive.
“We feel disappointed and upset we couldn’t see the game through and lift us up the league table.”
Palace welcome Norwich to Selhurst Park next Saturday.
