Chessington & Hook United 2 Wembley 1
Attacking down the hill at Chalky Lane was just right for Chessington as they took the lead after just four minutes, Leroy Brownford the scorer with a header that looped over the giant keeper of Wembley, after Gavin Quintyne's pass found Neil Wicks on the right, his cross was perfect for the lively winger.
Gary Puckett had to be at his best on 10 minutes when a great through ball to the big number nine got him into the penalty box, only to meet Pucketts tackle.
Kane Sargeant then shot wide from Wicks's headed pass, then the long goal kick was taken down by the left winger, he took on Puckett, who promptly took him down.
The resulting free kick had Mark Daniels, in goal, scrambling to get across his line and punches the ball away for a corner.
Craig Dunne & Richard Webber then exchanged passes for Sargeant to cross from the left, but it was defended for a corner.
James White then shot hard & low after good work by Quintyne & Brownford, his shot easily saved by keeper.
This was end to end now, and on 32 minutes, a corner form the left had Daniels in trouble, the ball fell to Jeffrey Dalton-Brown to tap the ball in from close range for the equaliser, 1-1.
Just before half time, Sargeant had a great chance to put the home side in front after he ran from the half way line into the penalty box, his shot saved by the keeper.
Daniels had to be sharp two minutes into the restart, after slack marking let in the forward. Danny Heath's long pass to Brownford from right to left was just behind him as he beat the offside trap. James White came on for Sargeant on 55 minutes.
Aaron Leacock's fine pass led to Wicks getting inside the penalty box, only to shoot across goal, but he got his reward 10 minutes later after his cross from the right found Quintyne on 12 yards, his shot was stopped by the keeper, the balls rolls out to Brownford, his shot was stopped on the line by the defenders hand, who was sent off, leaving Wicks to face the big Wembley keeper for the penalty, but the inform striker made no mistake from the spot for 2-1.
Quintyne then shot over from 20 yards when he should better, then it was Dunne's turn , but his effort was easy for the keeper.
Webber got booked again for dissent, when will he learn? Daniels then got lucky, almost presenting the forward with an easy chance, but recovered in time.
Dan Bennett was now on for Brownford, and he done really well when he went from right to left and somehow got a shot in which rifled in off the upright, then Webbers mistake led to their centre forward hitting the post.
Wicks came off for Phil Page with ten minutes left and he was really unlucky not to score when good skill took him into the box, with just the 'keeper to beat his shot was saved, the ball falls back to Page, his pass to Gavin led to his shot being defended, the ball rebounds back to Page but he was offside!
The game got scrappy for the last 10 minutes, with their number three being booked for a bad foul on Webber on the halfway line as they searched for the equaliser, but we had one more attack when Quintyne got forward and received the ball on the left, he got to the penalty box and shot across the goal, only to be booked after the referee blew for offside.
A very harsh decision!
This was a real contest from two good sides and a credit to them both.
