Sutton United will kick-off their pre-season campaign with an attractive home friendly against newly-promoted Coventry City on Saturday, July 7.

It will be the second season running the two teams have clashed at the Knights Community Stadium (KCS) with City winning 1-0 last year thanks to a goal from triallist Greg Moorhouse four minutes from time.

Both side's went on to have impressive campaigns with the U's finishing third in the Vanarama National League before losing at home to Boreham Wood in the play-off semi-final last month.

The Sky Blues went one better just last week, securing promotion back to SkyBet League One courtesy of a 3-1 win over Exeter City at Wembley Stadium in front of more than 50,000 fans.

Former Sutton striker Max Biamou played a key role in City's promotion push having joined the Sky Blues last summer for an undisclosed fee.

The 27-year-old French frontman made a big impression in his first season in the EFL, scoring twice in City's 4-1 play-off semi-final second-leg victory over Notts County on May 18.

Sutton will continue their preparations for the new season with a trip to Evo-Stik South-West side Winchester City on July 10 and will host old rivals Woking, now of the National League South, on July 17.

On Saturday, July 21, Chelsea are sending their development squad to the KCS to face Paul Doswell's men.

The following Saturday, July 28, Norwich City's U23 team visit Sutton for the second successive season. Kick-off will be at noon.
