Crystal Palace legend Julian Speroni is set to start against Chelsea tomorrow - if Wayne Hennessey fails to recover in time.

Eagles number one Hennessey picked up a knock on international duty with Wales, and is a major doubt for the game.

It means veteran goalkeeper Speroni could make his first league start in 18 months.

Speroni, 38, has been adored by Palace fans since arriving at the club in 2004, racking up nearly 400 appearances for the Eagles.

But he faces a tough task trying to stop Palace’s dreadful form, with the visit of Premier League champions Chelsea up next.

The Eagles have lost seven successive league games and have failed to score.

And finding the net will not get any easier with the continued absence of crocked strikers Christian Benteke and Connor Wickham.
