Frank de Boer is eyeing an audacious loan deal for Manchester United youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah, according to reports.

Fosu-Mensah, 19, worked with De Boer at Ajax, before joining the Red Devils in 2014.

The versatile defender is highly-rated by Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho, but is behind Antonio Valencia and Matteo Darmian in the pecking order.

He made just 11 appearances last season, many of those coming from the bench.

But De Boer would give Fosu-Mensah some much-needed playing time with the Eagles. In his preferred 3-4-3 formation, the Netherlands Under-21 international could play as a wing-back or defensive midfielder.

De Boer has turned his attention to Fosu-Mensah after growing frustrated with his attempts to land Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.

The Eagles are believed to have submitted a £15m for the former Southampton man, however, Arsenal are holding out for £20m.

And the Sun says Palace face competition to sign their new transfer target, Fosu-Mensah, on a season-long loan with Premier League rivals Watford also interested.
