Crystal Palace assistant manager Keith Millen has praised the side’s team spirit heading into the new Premier League season.

The Eagles’ unbeaten pre-season campaign continued on Wednesday night with a 3-2 win at League One AFC Wimbledon.

Goals from Connor Wickham, Yannick Bolasie and academy prospect Freddie Ladapo did the damage ahead of tomorrow’s trip to Fulham.

He said: “We haven’t got the French boys in yet, and the Welsh boys will come back with fantastic spirit after what they achieved at the Euros.

“It will be great to see them again, they’ll be back next week.”

He said: “The rest of the new boys have come in and done really well, [James] Tomkins and Andros [Townsend], two English lads particularly.

“There’s a real good spirit there and I’m sure that won’t change when the rest of them come back.”

With the Premier League season just over two weeks away, Millen added he was pleased with where the squad currently is in their preparation “From a fitness point of view, we feel we are in a good place,” he said.

“We’ve picked up a few knocks, but that happens unfortunately.

“We asked the players to increase their high speed running and intensity in the game.

"We want to get that match sharpness back and I can see that coming.”

He added: “There’s no hangover from the cup final and what we need to do is learn from our league form.

“The first half of the season was great but the second wasn’t, so we’re working on that consistency.

“We can’t go on long spells without a win and our focus now is on getting a win against West Brom on the opening day.”
