Carshalton Athletic boss Matt Howard has rung the changes at Colston Avenue releasing five players, and he has promised more is to come.

Going out the door are Greg Andrews, Adriano Moraes, who made 95 appearances, Ade Joshua, Josh Greenleaf and Alex Penfold – although the latter could be making a return.

Howard has also recruited former Robin Tony Sinclair, and promoted Josh Phillips and Rommel Hunte-Christie from the reserves.

Howard insisted the changes are not a knee-jerk reaction to a “shocking” performance in a 2-0 defeat at home to Leighton Town on Saturday.

He said: “We knew after the win over Molesey that changes needed to be made.

“Yes, we’d won, but that was really just papering over the cracks.

“We need to freshen things up, and I will bring in more new players – in fact I am speaking to two players today [Tuesday].

“But I will only bring in the right people. Carshalton is a massive club that has been dying for the past seven years, so it is a work in progress.

“Given the chairman’s brief at the start of the season, we’re going in the right direction.”

He added: “We were absolutely shocking in the first half against Leighton Town, but these changes are not just about that.

“Greg [Andrews] knows it has not happened for him here. I told him that me releasing him does not make him a bad player.”

The Robins go to Chatham Town on Saturday in Ryman Division One South.
