Tooting & Mitcham United boss Craig Tanner has finally got a league win under his belt after 11 attempts.

The 3-2 win over Ramsgate on Saturday arrested a run of form that had seen the Terrors fall from play-off challengers to mid-table obscurity and 11 points off the top five.

Tanner remains convinced his side can force their way back into contention, and one of Saturday’s goalscorers – 18-year-old academy star Saidhu Khan – will be key.

He said: “Saidhu made his debut against Sittingbourne in October, and he’s done very well, so much so he has earned a run in the first team.

“He scored his first goal on Saturday, one of many to come I am assuming, and it’s just a case of how long we can hold onto him.

“There are a few pro clubs looking at him, which is good for him, but we’re hoping we can keep him for a bit longer if not for another season.”

He added: “He a versatile central midfielder – he’s very comfortable on the ball, he’s a play-maker, and he can play in deeper role or he can hit the box like he did on Saturday.”

Terrors go to Three Bridges tonight (Tuesday), before flying out to Guernsey on Saturday.
