Harry May was only competing at the British Gymnastics London Region GFA championship to gain experience, but he walked away with a bronze medal.
The seven-year-old pupil from Carshalton Harris Junior Academy in Carshalton and a member of Merton Gymnastics Club, was competing in only his second competition.
However, scores of 10.60 on the vault and 16.90 on the floor won him third place in his age category.
Harry said: “I am over the moon, I feel on top of the world.”
Mum Susan said: “I’m so proud of my son.
“Harry has worked so hard in his training for this competition.
“He loves training with his friends, it’s so nice to see the children having fun and achieving their goals.
“A big thank you goes to all the coaches at Merton Gymnastics Club, who are so dedicated to the children and young people, and work so hard to inspire them.”
