Sutton & Epsom head coach Jeff Parsons hailed his side’s “superb” performance in beating London Division One South leaders Wimbledon.

More than 400 fans packed Rugby Lane on Saturday to watch Sutton run in four tries to win 39-17, and climb to second in the table – just three points behind Dons.

Parsons said: “We were in complete control of the game, we dominated up front, we won two penalty tries our dominance was that good, we pushed every scrum back 10 yards, we won every line out.

"We had around 500 people watchin so the support was superb, it was like a cup final rather than a league match.

“It was a superb effort from the lads, and it was a great night in the bar afterwards, and they deserved all the praise that came their way.”

He added: "It sends a message out, as did us beating Sidcup when they were top, that we're a decent side and people will now repsect us.

"We're doing well, but no-one is getting carried away, we're not even half way through the season.

"We have got some tough games coming up, but we're grateful for the break - it will give the guys some time to get over knocks and bruises."

Sutton get back to action on December 6 at home to Basingstoke.
