Hampton & Richmond Borough Alan Dowson is hoping to convince ex-AFC Wimbledon winger Brendan Kiernan his future lies at the Beveree.

The 21-year-old was part of Terry Brown's squad that won promotion to the Football League in 2011, but left the Cherry Red Records Stadium in 2013 having failed to impress new boss Neal Ardley.

Kiernan, who featured for Bromley last term and started this season with Conference South Staines Town, scored Hampton's second goal in a 3-3 draw with an Ipswich Town development XI on Tuesday night and also set up Charlie Moone for his side's third.

Dowson was hoping to tie up a deal for the former Fulham and Crystal Palace youngster last night, having already secured the signature of ex-Kingstonian defender Kieran Murphy this week.

Midfielder Jake Ross, who also shone in the draw with the Tractor Boys, is also a target for the Beveree chief as he builds a new side to take on Grays Athletic in the FA Trophy at the Beveree on Saturday and Bury Town in the Ryman Premier League the following Tuesday.

Monty Patterson opened the scoring for Ipswich and Darren McQueen struck an impressive brace, but each goal was levelled in succession by Tashan Adeyinka, Kiernan and Moone.

"It was a good performance, but I want to be judged on the next two games," said Hampton manager Dowson.
