Buoyed by their victory at Old Alleynians the previous weekend, Warlingham were hopeful of earning a first home win in London Division Two South West on Saturday when they hosted Tottonians.

However, it was not to be and the unbeaten Southampton-based visitors ran out emphatic 36-3 victors.

A wayward kick after receiving the kick-off gave Tottonians the opportunity to immediately run at the Warlingham defence, and they forced a five metre scrum from which their number eight drove over for their first try.

Full back Joe McEvoy pulled back three points with a penalty but that was to be the only time Warlingham changed the scoreboard.

Despite breaks from fly half Harry Wrightson and lock David Thornton, the Warlingham attack, with limited possession, were unable to breach the visitor's line.

New prop Lewis Unsworth held firm in the tight and hooker Dan Street dented the Tottonians defence until he was replaced by the dependable Simon Townsend.

Two further tries followed for the visitors before half time and yellow cards were dished out to Dan Street for hands in the ruck, and centre Brad Saffery for offside.

Battling with 13 players, Warlingham defended well but Tottonians secured their bonus point with two further tries to round up a disappointing afternoon for the home team and supporters.

Head coach Ben Stobart said: “This was a hard day at the office for us. Tottonians are a strong side but we'll find every game difficult in this league so we just have to dig deep and put the effort in on the training pitch."
