Julian Speroni believes Neil Warnock will have a huge impact at Selhurst Park after returning to the club for a second spell in charge.

The keeper is no stranger to the manager having worked under Warnock during his previous tenure in the Eagles hotseat between 2007 and 2010.

And the Argentine stopper reckons the current squad will quickly take on board what the Yorkshireman is telling them.

Speroni explained: “Neil makes such a big impact everywhere he goes and he has settled things down now and we are looking forward to what is coming.

“It won’t take the other lads long to work out what Neil Warnock wants and expects from his players.

“He always makes himself very clear and they will pick it up in no time.

“We had the international week and a lot of the players were away, which made it hard really to work on anything.

“But hopefully now we can use the next week to work really hard and we’ll be looking forward to the game against Everton.”

Speroni’s stunning penalty save ensured Crystal Palace collected a point from Saturday’s 0-0 Selhurst draw with Burnley

The home side started the game brightly and should have taken the lead, first through the retuning Wilfried Zaha, whose shot was cleared off the line, and then as defender Scott Dann rattled the bar with a header midway through the half.

But the Eagles didn’t take their chances and almost paid the price when the Clarets were awarded a penalty in the 84th minute.

Scott Arfield stepped up and struck his spot-kick high to Speroni’s right, but last year’s player of the year somehow got a strong hand on it and the danger was cleared.

Speroni himself was delighted with the save but disappointed that his side weren’t able to secure their first win of the season.

The Argentine said: “The team needs their goalkeeper to step up at times like that, it’s my job.

“I dived quite low and I had to react quickly and go with my upper hand and luckily I saved it.

“I haven’t seen it yet but I’ll be interested to watch it later.”

“Playing at home we wanted to win the game, and I think we had more than enough chances to do that.

“But in the end we could have lost it, so it was a good point despite our early chances.”
