Charlie Sheringham has left AFC Wimbledon after boss Neal Ardley confirmed the striker will not be offered a new contract.
The 26-year-old, a free signing from Bournemouth in June last year, made just eight appearances for the Dons scoring a single goal in a season that was blighted by injury.
Ardley told Dons Player: "We had an open conversation today and from Charlie’s point of view he feels he probably never got a good run in the team and rightly so.
"It was stop-start for him after he suffered a bad injury. From my point of view we had a bit of a striker crisis throughout the season and we were not scoring enough goals."
He added: “It has not quite worked out and it’s an area that I feel needs to be freshened up to try and solve the problem from last season.
"Charlie is a good player and I think he will do well wherever he goes. I hope he gets a good deal somewhere else.”
