Sutton Transport Vandals
These six vandals are being sought by police after they daubed graffiti, etched windows and trashed seats on buses in Sutton.
They are the latest yobs targeted by officers for criminal damage on London buses which costs the tax payer more than £8million a year.
In a bid to catch the culprits, the Metropolitan Police’s BusTag team has formed a partnership with local newspapers to try and encourage witnesses to come forward.
In the February 8 edition of the Sutton Guardian we published nine images of youngsters who had vandalised buses.
As a result, 23 calls were made to police by members of the public and provisional identifications were made for four of the individuals.
Chief Superintendent Michael Humphrey, Transport Operational Command Unit said: “Operation BusTag is proving an effective tactic in confronting people who commit acts of bus criminal damage and antisocial behaviour.
“Criminal damage is a huge cost to the public purse and we treat these offences very seriously. If you commit acts of vandalism on London buses you will be caught with the help of CCTV.
“We are very grateful to the public for their response.”
