Slavic Christmas

A Slavic Christmas wonderland attracted the crowds to Wimbledon Village on Sunday.

The High Street was closed to traffic while shoppers warmed up at the Russian tea room or vodka bar clad in woolly hats and scarfs.

Mr Magic, face painters, Father Christmas and Russian folk art lessons kept the youngsters entertained.

As well as boasting its own ice rink for all to enjoy, the village resembled a festive Siberia with the help of a snow machine.

Organiser Andrea Brown said: "I am indebted to local Russian artist Larissa Connor who has acted as Russian liaison officer to ensure real authenticity."
