Graduate Fashion Week
The world of fashion has descended on Battersea Park this week in search of the next generation of Stella McCartneys and Alexander McQueens.
After opening on Sunday night, this year’s Graduate Fashion Week came to a dramatic end on Wednesday night when Victoria Beckham will be jetted from Los Angeles to be among the judges at the gala show, deciding which students should walk away with the £20,000 prize money on offer.
The former Spice Girl got the job because she is seen as a “global fashion icon”, according to Graduate Fashion Week chairman Terry Mansfield. She will be joined by designer Alber Elbaz, American Harper's Bazaar’s Glenda Bailey and River Island managing director Richard Bradbury.
Hooded cardigans inspired by Cornish fisherman, Islamic-style veils and space-age silver have been just some of the looks presented so far. More than 1,000 graduates from 48 universities and colleges, including University College for the Creative Arts at Epsom, are taking part in the event, which is Europe’s largest student fashion show.
