Update: Tories regain Assembly seats
Tony Arbour
Tony Arbour

Conservatives in south-west London were celebrating after regaining three constituency seats on the London Assembly.

Tony Arbour held his seat - increasing his majority fivefold.

Mr Arbour has represented the South West constituency covering Richmond, Kingston and Hounslow, since 2000.

Analysts had earlier predicted that the South West seat could swing to the Lib Dems but the Tories maintained their hold on the constituency.

In Croydon and Sutton the Conservatives were also victorious.

Steve O'Connell, deputy leader of Croydon Council, won the seat previously held by Andrew Pelling.

And the party was also celebrating a win in Merton and Wandsworth. Richard Tracey the winning candidate.

Labour's Valerie Shawcross regained her assembly seat in Lambeth and Southwark.

Swing to the Lib-Dems, the party of protest? Why waste your vote?

I suspect if the BNP had a candidate then the Conservatives might have only taken two seats.
