The motorcyclist who died following a crash in Mitcham on Monday (February 12) has been named locally.

Polish national Christopher Krzysiek was killed after the motorbike he was riding crashed in Windmill Road.

Police and London Ambulance Service were called to the crash just before 11am, but by 11.29am, Mr Krzysiek had been pronounced dead.

A Gofundme page has now been set up by Mr Krzysiek's friend, Adam Jurgielewicz, to bring the 37-year-old's body back to Poland, where his friends and family live.

Translated from Polish to English, the page said: "The collection aims to bring the deceased's body to Poland and support the family of the deceased in these hard times.

"He was always smiling and happy to help. He left two sons.

"Please help - each of you separately. Even the smallest amount will be appreciated."

Since the fundraiser started, £3439 has been raised at the time of going to press and Jurgielewicz thanked those who had already donated.

"On behalf of family, friends and friends, Krzysia would like to thank you for your support and help.

"We managed to collect over 3,100 pounds, but the pack does not end.

"The more we gather, the more we help the closest Krzy?. Therefore, please share this message further."
